THE BUILD

Four things that are true of every hat.

The Blank

A Zapped Blackhawk five-panel. Black all the way through, with a black and gold rope across the brim. We did not build a hat around a logo. We started with a blank worth building on.

The Stitch

The design is embroidered, not printed. White thread traces the state, gold thread carries the mark. Thread holds up. Ink gives up. Once it is stitched it is not coming out.

The Number

On a numbered drop, every hat carries its own number on the rear panel, one of fifty. We do not choose which one you get, and we never stitch the same number twice. When the run closes, that is the end of it. No second run.

The Record

Every numbered hat gets logged. Owner, number, state, the day it shipped. It lives on the registry so the number can always be traced back to one hat and one owner.
